The Artist
Richard Wood was born in London in 1950 and at the age of fourteen moved to Wiltshire. From childhood he showed an exceptional flair for drawing and painting. After school he commenced training as textile designer but following an introduction to the Cornish based artist, John Miller (1931-2002), changed direction to concentrate on painting. He has since 1976 worked full time as a professional artist. Now he has relocated his studio from Colne, Lancashire in the United Kingdom to near the picturesque village of Mijas, in Andalucia, Southern Spain.
The Style
His paintings are representational in a traditional style produced in both oil and water colours.
The landscapes and architectural images are confidently presented with precision and subtle brush strokes, in true delicate colours.
All his paintings draw the viewers eye to details which capture those magic moments of light and shade, so often overlooked by those with less sensitive vision and perception. |

The Paintings
Richard's success has enabled him to travel extensively in Italy, Egypt, India, China, Thailand Cambodia and more recently Spain and Europe. His most recent works are obviously influenced by his new "local" Spanish environment with Mijas, Cordoba, Seville, Granada and the Alhambra prominently featuring.
Richard undertakes private commissions and exhibits in mixed and one man shows currently at The Riviera Gallery in Fuengirola. He also welcomes visitors by appointment to view his working studio and gallery.
